How often should I change the oil in my Toro lawn mower? ›

Every 100 hours • Lubricate the mower deck-lift pivots. Change the engine oil. Replace or clean and gap the spark plug. Check and clean the engine-cooling fins and shrouds.

There are several reasons why excess oil is bad – especially for your lawn mower engine. One of the bigger risks is that your engine can overheat. This will put extra pressure on the crankshaft and rod, which can bend or break, leading to expensive repairs.
