SATURDAY, MARCH 9, 2002 LIFESTYLES WEDDINGS Kelli Scott becomes bride of Matthew Pope MATTOON In a park-like setting with a water fountain and lamp posts wrapped in tulle and ivy, Kelli V. Scott and Matthew D. Pope, both of Mattoon, exchanged wedding vows Sept. 15, 2001. Their parents are Terri Scott, Ron and Karin Scott and the Rev.

Duane and Lorena Pope, all of Mattoon. The Revs. Duane Pope, father of the groom; Derold R. Doughty and Derold K. "Shine" Doughty officiated the 3:30 p.m.

Pianist Casey Hones, along with Marsha Haldorsen at the drums and Nils Haldorsen on bass, provided music as Marcy Shockley, Jeremy Doughty, Aaron Taylor, Lisa Doughty and Marlo Spidle sang solos and duets. Selections included "It's Love," "I Will Follow Him," "The Rest of All Time," "You Got a Friend," "Lady," "Even If," "Together, As One" and "How Sweet it The bride, escorted by her mother and father, wore a longsleeved gown with a beaded and sequined bodice and a scalloped Sabrina neckline. The empire waist featured satin trim while the satin skirt flowed into a cathedral-length train embellished with beads and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Pope sequins.

A beaded head piece secured her veil of tulle and satin trim, and she carried a cascade of purple calla lilies with sterling silver and white roses. Deb Whalin of Mattoon attended as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tara Sampson, Johnna Welsh, Valerie Doughty, Charity Sanders, Tera Whalin and Amy Henderson, all of Mattoon; and Julie Browning of Humboldt. Decatur quilt show has underground railroad theme DECATUR The Decatur Quilters Guild will have its 22nd annual Decatur Quilt Fest at the Decatur Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Among the activities are the Quilt Railing, a display of underground railroad quilts, and a daily slide show and lecture by Jacqueline Tobin, adjunct professor at the University of Denver and author of "Hidden in Plain View: A Secret Story of Quilts and the Underground Railroad." "Hidden in Plain View" presents the theory that slaves created quilts coded with patterns to help one another flee to freedom. Following each presentation Tobin will be available for book signings. Books also may be purchased at that time. Bids will be taken on a small quilt for use as a wallhanging and an added quilt display will feature redwork embroidery quilts.

The event is sponsored this year by The Spirit of Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children.
