Why did Telegram limit me? ›

When users press the 'Report spam' button in a chat, they forward these messages to our team of moderators for review. If the moderators decide that the messages deserved this, the account becomes limited temporarily.

Ban for spam

Telegram blocks when users mark a message as spam. It does not matter if there is correspondence with the person. So you should be careful when dealing with current customers. The same goes for messages in groups, comments on channels and invitations to group chats — all of these acttions can be reported.

Make sure you're entering the code and your password (if you have both enabled) correctly. Once 24 hours have passed, the error should go away. The simplest solution is to wait through the cool down period. Depending on the action this could last for a few minutes to a few hours.

User reports indicate no current problems at Telegram

Telegram allows users to send and receive messages, photos, secure conversations and other information and is considered an alternative to text messages or SMS.

It has a strict privacy policy stating that it does not share user IP addresses, phone numbers, or other information with law enforcement agencies.

Telegram considers this a security matter, and if you are unable to enter the correct code, you will need to wait for 24 hours before attempting to log in again. If you encounter this error, the best course of action is to wait until the designated time has passed and then attempt to access your account again.

If the spam report in the message you sent is confirmed by our moderators, your account may be restricted from contacting strangers - temporarily or permanently. You can submit an appeal using @Spambot. In case of more serious violations, your account may be blocked.

If you were using Telegram on your devices but are unexpectedly logged out, it's possible that someone is using your account and terminated your legitimate sessions.

Make sure the latest app version is installed. Go to Telegram Settings > Notifications and Sounds, make sure that notifications are ON and Importance is set to “High” or greater. Check notification priority for Telegram in Android settings, it can be called Importance or Behaviour depending on the device.
